Props That Elevate Your Boudoir Session

Monday, September 01, 2025 | By: Daphne Ellenburg

Sure, lingerie and luxury robes look stunning—but sometimes, it’s the personal touches that take your boudoir session from beautiful to unforgettable.

At HelloBoudoir.com, we encourage every client to bring (or borrow) props that tell their story, highlight their personality, and add an extra layer of creativity to their portraits. Props can transform a set, shift the mood, and make your boudoir gallery feel uniquely you.

Here are some of our favorite ideas for boudoir props that elevate your experience.

🎀 1. Personal Wardrobe Pieces

Think beyond lingerie. A favorite pair of heels, an oversized sweater, a great pair of pajamas or your partner’s shirt can become a powerful prop. These items tell a story and often make clients feel more comfortable while adding intimacy to the shoot.

📚 2. Books, Journals, & Creative Tools

Are you a writer, an artist, or a bookworm? Bring a favorite novel, a sketchpad, or even your guitar. Using props tied to your hobbies or passions makes your portraits feel authentic and playful.

🥃 3. Something to Sip

Whether it’s a glass of champagne, whiskey neat, or even a coffee mug, drinks make excellent props. They give your hands something to do, set a mood, and add personality to your portraits. We are NOT a big drinking studio, but a sip or two with your prop during your session is A-okay.

🦋 4. Couture Add-Ons

Some of the most breathtaking props are already here waiting for you:

  • Angel Wings (ivory, blush, gray, or white cape)
  • Couture Dressing Robes (aka Murder Robes)
  • Rhinestone Sparkle Sets - think SHOWGIRL
  • These pieces create movement, drama, and texture in your images—and they’re available in our studio, some at no additional charge. Visit the Angel wings link and the Rhinestone Sparkle session links to learn more.

💎 5. Jewelry & Accessories

Necklaces, rings, and earrings do more than accessorize—they highlight your neckline, frame your face, and bring a touch of luxury. Even a simple hat or pair of gloves can add a stylish twist. We stock only what we love to shoot: Pearls and Rhinestones. Bring the pieces you love.

🖤 6. Themed or Seasonal Touches

Want to lean into a theme? Props like pumpkins for Spooky Boo-doir, disco balls for Disco Queen, or sheets for our Marilyn set can instantly transport your shoot into a mood, decade, or vibe. Visit our specialty session tab at HelloBoudoir.com.

🎯 What to Avoid

  • Distracting Logos or Text: They can pull focus from you. (unless they are funny or it's your favorite band - those are always great)
  • Too Many Props: A handful of meaningful items is better than bringing a carload.
  • Things That Don’t Feel “You”: Props should enhance your confidence, not feel like a costume.

Props aren’t required—but they’re one of the best ways to personalize your boudoir session. Whether it’s a sentimental item, a couture robe, or just your favorite pair of heels, the right prop helps tell your story in a way that’s bold, beautiful, and uniquely yours.
